Rod began his working career in 1965 earning £5 and 10 shillings a week in the shipping office at Valor Engineering in Birmingham and 2 years later joined Dunlop Erdington in their export department.
To further develop his obvious ability to communicate at all levels, in 1974 Rod became a sales representative for a local forwarding company and the next 25 years were spent in similar managerial roles with Midland based freight forwarders.
In 1999 Rod and his wife, Sue, started their own Forwarding business and after 12 successful years they sold out to a major international transport organisation.
At this stage in his career Rod was thinking of nothing else but early retirement but he was eventually persuaded by Trevor Paul (over a 6 month period) to join him at Twente Express as Sales Director.
A ‘Brummie’ by birth, Rod just had to become a supporter of Birmingham City Football Club. His other interests outside work are his wife Sue and their 4 children, all sports, walking his two Westies, natural history, travel and a tot of Bushmills Irish Whiskey every now and then.
His only claim to fame is that he found a snake* whilst once visiting his relatives in Ireland – too many Bushmills we think!
*Legend has it, that Saint Patrick banished all snakes from Ireland.
