Understand the Charges – Declarations and Duty
To prepare for the conversation with your trading partners you will want to know what the charges may be.

You should also understand what duty may be applicable as follows.
- Commodity Code
You will need to know the commodity code(s) of your goods. You can find this information here – https://www.gov.uk/guidance/using-the-trade-tariff-tool-to-find-a-commodity-code
- UK to EU
For goods being Imported into the EU from the UK it is assumed that in the event of no free trade deal the EU will levy the same rate of duty on goods as they do for any other 3rdcountry that does not have a trade deal. Below is a link to that tariff. If you enter the commodity code it will advise you the rate of duty that would be payable – https://www.trade-tariff.service.gov.uk/sections
- EU to UK
For Goods being Imported into the UK from the EU – The UK Government has indicated the tariff that will be used in the event of no free trade deal. Below is a link to that tariff.
